Use precise language when documenting the result. “Released from High Point Detention Center” describes the end of that physical stay. Add whether GCSO custody ended, the supported release type, and any known transfer. Do not turn “not found” into “free” or “case closed.”
Verify High Point Detention Release

The Sheriff also links a Recent Arrests catalog, but an arrest entry does not establish a later release. North Carolina Chapter 132 provides broad access to public government records, but protected material can be withheld or redacted. Juvenile, medical, security, identity, and criminal-investigation limits may affect a file. An agency must provide records it keeps; it does not have to create a new narrative or compile an answer that does not exist.
The county's general public-record FAQ says routine requests are generally provided within 30 business days and that complex or cross-agency reviews may take longer. It lists ordinary copies at 15 cents per page, microfiche at 15 cents per fiche, and CDs at $2. Those are countywide rates, not a promise of the fee or timing for a specific High Point record. GCSO operates High Point Detention Center as an adult county jail. The facility opened in January 1990. The county calls it North Carolina's first “New Generation” direct-supervision facility. Official figures list 274 beds and 122,900 square feet. These are facility facts, not the number of people currently held or released. High Point Court-Supervised Release
Guilford Court Services is especially relevant in High Point when a judge orders supervised pretrial release. This mail channel serves the former inmate. It does not verify another person's release and does not authorize access to someone else's correspondence. The GCSO Re-entry Program is also available at no cost to people released from either adult Guilford jail. It is a support route after release, not a source for confirming custody status.
